You are looking at an accurate reproduction of the famous Porsche 904 GTS sportscar. The original 904 debuted in 1964 and was designed to compete in FIA-GT class events. In it's first season it won the 1964 Targa Florio in Italy and first place in P3.0 at the 12 hours at Sebring. In order to qualify for GT-class racing, it was homologated as a street-legal road car and sold to the public. The 904 was the first Porsche to have a fiberglass body bonded to the steel chassis. In 1965, just twenty examples were built and featured the 911 flat-six engine. This reproduction of the 904 was crafted in England by Martin & Walker in 2003, to the exacting standard of the original Porsche design. It is designed to only accept Porsche mechanicals and engines, and the body is molded off the original 904, duplicated in the same fiberglass material. The Martin & Walker 904 is only supplied as a complete rolling chassis, ready to accept the engine and transmission. Only a handful of vehicles are constructed a year, which makes this reproduction almost as rare as the originals. So correct are the Martin & Walker reproductions that it was allowed to race in the famous Carrera Panamericana in Mexico, where it finished second in class in 2002 and 2003. This particular car was personally built for our Automobile Atlanta president George Hussey and has just been completed and driven only 40 plus test miles. It comes features a freshly rebuilt carburated 3.0 engine, 901 gearbox and custom made seven and eight aluminum rimmed Porsche steel centered wheels, headers and Dansk factory sport muffler, and the correct Hoosier tires. This well sorted car is new and has never been driven, (except for the test miles) freshly prepared licensed and registered for the street, and ready for the new owners driving and racing pleasure. The body is finished in Porsche silver, which is the German racing color, and has the accurate black interior with blue racing seats and harnesses, and complete VDO instrumentation. In just about every way, this vehicle is a historical reproduction of the original 904 GTS, which are near priceless and rarely available for sale.
