For Sale: 1996 993 coupe; midnight blue metallic with classic grey interior. All records from Previous Owner, tool kit and touch up paint. 49k miles.
. Absolutely bone stock, 17" wheels, no performance upgrades, never tracked or autocrossed.
Driven correctly and spiritedly. Not used for short trips anywhere. Selling due to realestate opportunity necessity. History as follows:
1. Developed CEL secondary emission problem at 23k miles and was handled by Jim Ellis Porsche under warranty. Work consisted of engine removal, machining of heads, unclogging port and all valve guides replaced with Magnesium Bronze material; stronger than OEM part, by far. Personally verified by me with machine shop and records.
2. Wiring harness recall handled by PO just prior to my ownership less than 2 years ago at Hennessey Porshce.
3. PO had engine lid shocks replaced, oil changed, rear wing work, sunroof adjustment and lubrication and
4 point balance.
4. I have replaced the front lid shocks, interior and engine air filters. K&N airfilter in standard air box.
5. Recently, within 1000 mi., had brake pads replaced, all engine belts replaced, oil changed, spark plugs replaced at Auto Atlanta.
6. New rear tires about 4k miles ago: Pirelli to match front tires. Approx. 80%+ tread life.
7. New interior floor mats.
8. A clean car with no accident history, never repainted.
9. Gear shift and brake handle ordered in wood.
10. No issues, car burns less than a quart in 4500 miles, owner observed. Indication of tight top end and no leaks. Nothing needed.
Anyone familiar with the 993 knows they are the last and best of the air cooled engines made by Porsche as well as the best handling. Additionaly the achilles heel of this car is the CEL secondary emissions air passage coking problem and premature valve guide wear, all of this has been taken care of. There are very few like this around. This is the one that anyone with knowledge of these cars is looking for. All this and AC blows cold and really works which is not the case with all previous models.
