This is the one! First year of the mighty 911 cabriolet and among the
series to own and covet! Dr 914 says the 83-89 911 cabs are the future classics.
Every receipt since new and thoroughly reconditioned by our shop, this car needs nothing and is ready for the long drive home.
This very straight car has every bit of its original paint except or the left rear quarter that was previously damaged and repaired. Dr 914 took this one under his wing as it was an outstanding candidate for reconditioning. When purchased this car had a brand new top and cd player, great tire tread and drove down from Chattanooga. The car originally from Atlanta was actually worked on by George's ex brother in law, Galen Bridges LTD, known for his outstandingly perfect 911 work. In taking the car into our shop we first observed that the engine was running only on five cylinders and we soon discovered that the engine had suffered a broken case stud, common for these 3.0 engines after all of these years. We removed the engine, replaced all of the studs, installed new rings, a carrera chain tensioner kit, and new flywheel pressure plate clutch disc and throwout bearing. We further replaced all of the intake gaskets and boots relapped all of the valves, and carefully reassembled all. The engine now has perfect compression and leakdown and runs like an absolute champ.
We then proceeded onto the cosmetic end, replacing the cracked dash with a factory fresh piece, recovered the seats with factory leather kits, replaced a cracked rear bumper guard with factory new, replaced the front windshield and windshield gasket while we had the dash out.
As an added appearance item we replaced the stock us headlights with
h-4 euro variety (makes the front end much more beautiful looking) and added a factory chin spoiler for aggressive appearance.
Finally we completed a thorough service/ maintenance including rear brake pads and turn signal switch. George then gave it a thorough test drive down to the Amelia Island concours in Jacksonville Florida, the car performing flawlessly.
The car is now ready for you our fellow Porsche enthusiast. Please keep in mind that this is just not another unknown used 911, but rather a car gone over with a fine toothed comb by the people who know and appreciate these cars. You will not be disappointed.
