Weekend Twenty-four
Here we can see the Rear Koni sport shocks that are adjustable with our coil over package. The coils are 100 lbs which I think is plenty for our application here. We'll be adding a rear sway bar soon. The "Big Brakes" for the front have been painted blue. The rear trailing arms have also been installed.
More installations. The coil overs look great in the car!! Rear wheel bearings have gone in.
Now the rear cross drilled frozen rotors are installed and then we put rebuilt rear left and right calipers in blue on the car. I like the Euro lenses for the front and rear of the 914 and wanted the fronts to operate correctly so I got the turn signal kit from Craig and installed it. You can see the white tap through the clear portion of the lens which I wasn't thrilled with. So we turned the tabs on their side when installing them, painted them silver like the bucket and then added a small piece of hose to the end so they would disappear.
You can see the turn signal bucked with the completed turn signal kit installed. Then we re-installed the bucket. Matt has painted our fan housing and you can see the engine being assembled.
Finally our fuel injection kit starts coming together. We are designing this kit on our own. We are using existing components of course, but this kit will be fully programable. Here you can see the 48mm throttle bodies, the intakes and the cross bar.
The stacks have been added as well as the coil pack in the center of the engine. At first we had some heat concerns but those have been resolved.
The air cleaners are put on.
The engine is looking very good. We anticipate running the engine shortly. Here you can see us fitting the front chrome bumper. I'm not a fan of the 1975-76 rubber bumpers so I am opting to go against Dr. 914 and retro some 1970-72 chrome bumpers. Since the bodies remained the same this is an easy retro. If you look inside the front wheel wells you will see marks that will allow the chrome bumpers to fit precisely. Front Chrome Bumpers will need your core as they become more and more scarce.
The engine is coming along nicely due to Matt's hard work. The EFI system is great!!
We have also opted for a stainless braided fuel line kit with connectors. It is not necessary with the kit, but we like it. The extra flash should dress the engine compartment up nicely.
Aside from our stainless fuel lines, here you can see the fiberglass rear GT valance going on the car and being finished. And then the engine is back in the car for some more fitting.
