Fuel tank goes in along with our new Blaupunkt
amp for the subwoofer. The rear Euro lenses go on, giving the rear
a finished look.
More fuel injection playing and Jason takes on
the stereo system. Eric plays with the headers and muffler a little
more for some fine tuning.
The new flange for the headers creates a straighter
angle for our air flow.
The new Blaupunkt head unit goes into our white
dash face kit.
We tried an end cap on the muffler, that looks
cool but does not give the back pressure that we wanted. Next we
install the Pilot driving lights with custom stainless brackets.
Then we wire those together.
Once the lights work, we move back to the pedal
area. I decided I will install the adjustable accellerator pedal.
The pedal along with the other stainless pedals
should be a nice combination for the extreme. You can see the felt
carpet kit being dry fitted in the car and the installation of the
tweeters where the coat hooks once were.
Along the cross member of the car we install vinyl,
which is nice with the felt carpet. An Optima battery with reverse
terminals adds some color and functionality to the engine compartment.
The tail light lenses fit into the housing. Some
more touch ups and then the aluminum pedal board is installed.
The aluminum pedal stop for the accellerator is
added to the board. The front trunk carpet kit is installed.
More carpet installation with the final mounting
of the amp for the woofer.
The rear carpet in the trunk is molded as you know,
so we used some weights to mold it into place. Where's the jack for
the straps?
More stereo installation, then wipers and then
front trunk last minutes including a spare tire.
Great looking wheels from Kinesis.
Felt carpeting on the back pad area. Yes, we removed
the backpad.
Front deck lid goes on while more carpeting is
installed.
A new headliner is added to our refurbished targa
top.
Door panels made as replica 916 panels with genuine
Porsche cloth are finally installed.
We also decided on a three point harness from Sparco.
Sean then added our VW-Porsche emblem on the back. Seven points to
drill - be careful!!
After some final touches it is time to load the
car in the trailer. We add the 914 Euro plate with genuine Euro bracket
to the front of the extreme.
For now the car gets an AutoAtlanta license tag
on the rear. Oh, there's the original jack!
The sport seats look great with the blue Sparco
belts. Those seats are also complete with Porsche material.
Finally at 2 A.M. the car goes into the trailer
for California and the WCC05. Our last couple of weeks have been
trying with the car. Determined to take the car to California to
see some of our vendors and also see our friends with the 914 Club,
we had to step up our "weekend only" schedule. Aside from the last
two weeks our schedule is what you have seen here. This is an average
time span for the typical father son project.
