Weekend Four

The 2.0 engine case came back to us from the machine shop. Freshly dipped, this case is beautiful. Now we'll start putting it together from the bottom up. We are considering a super-charger kit on this engine, but I'm waiting another Weekend for research before committing.
All the flares are finished. The welding is complete and Matt was able to grind down the welds smooth. Very easy process, and I'm thrilled with how they fit and compare with our existing GT and M471 cars. With a little seam seal on the underside, all four will be done. The car looks a little funny with the small wheels and tires now, but that will soon change with the Kinesis 17x7 wheels in the front and 17x9 in the rear. What a great look this will make.
You can see rust already building up from where we have left the car in the rain this past Weekend. Some primer will fix this right up and halt the process. Since we will media blast the whole car later, a little primer won't matter at this stage. You can also see where Matt has done a little more patching and finishing up the new floorpans. I'll still need some seat hinges, but that's minor.
Shawn painted the engine sheet metal with our Wurth Zinc paint. Matt was busy rebuilding this engine from the bottom up. As you can see this is just the standard rebuild. Nothing fancy here, just great work from master mechanic Matt. This will be a good solid engine, please email if you're interested in owning this engine as it will need a good home soon.
More engine coming together. New 2.0 heads and valves are added. Matt is flying putting this engine together is fantastic time. I think we'll be able to put this engine back in the car, if we desire, by next Weekendend! Or we can chose to roll it around instead.

Since we were rebuilding, why not update the stock engine a little bit with a big bore kit, part number 039198075A96. This kit will add a little more power and well worth the extra work at this stage.
Just a spray or two more of the Wurth paint, part number GR1012, and the engine is together. We'll add the sheet metal next Weekendend and you'll see how quickly this engine has been completed. As we completed this engine, we've talked about adding the Competition Fuel Injection Kit, part number MB31431. Rolf is a big fan of the kit. If we do take advantage of this highly acclaimed kit, it will go on the new engine and not the stock engine. I'm not sure how I feel about altering the engine lid to take this kit as it will be higher than a normal fuel injection.
