The fuel pressure regulator is located at the fuel rail, it works in tandem with the fuel pressure damper/s to regulate and deliver consistent fuel pressure. It regulates the fuel pressure to the injectors and has an internal membrane that can fail. Symptoms of failure include, misfires, lackluster performance, decreased fuel efficiency and black sooty exhaust.
