The 11.8:1 compression will provide you with more acceleration than kits with 11.3:1 compression. For track use we recommend more aggressive cam (maximum valve lift (tdc) of 2.1 mm) . Piston 's have very deep pockets for use with sport valves. These are 107 mm in size so are slip fit and do not require modifications. This kit is ideal for track use but can also be used on the street, it will add 40+ hp (depending on your additional modifications). Mahle pistons are forged for substantially higher and more uniform strength over pistons that are cast. Mahle cylinders are manufactured from st52 steel which has extremely high thermal resistance, they are nikasil coated which reduces wear and friction. We also have the piston rings (sealing and oil scrapers) pre-installed to ensure reliability. Each of our piston and cylinder kits are complete and ready for installation. This kit also requires our proprietary 3.8l high compression software, part # FVD964618xx for 964 models and part # FVD99361810 or FVD99361870 for 993 models. Just specify that you will be running the 11.8:1 kit when you order the software. For 964 models: this set is made to be used with the narrow connecting rod eye of the 993 rods. You can use 993 rods or have your 964 rods machined, but we highly recommend using the carrillo rods which are tailored to this application, part # FVD10397503. Tip for 964 models: if you would like to use your 964 connecting rods, send them to us and we will have them modified to the narrow rod eye spec. Like the 993.
