the piggy back option was not for us and here are our thoughts on the subject:

FVD Brombacherhas extensively researched many programming options for the panamera turbo. We have been working on this project for more than a year now. Programming this ecu is extremely difficult and must be done with due diligence.

Our philosophy has always been to extract the most power out of a Porsche while never sacrificing reliability, drivability and safety. We researched and tested several piggy back units but in the end they did not meet our criteria. We decided against them for a number of reasons.

It is very difficult to adjust ignition timing on dfi (direct fuel injection) Porsche 's with a piggy back unit due to the combination of sensors that have to be taken into account (cam angle sensors, o2 sensors, knock sensors, rpm sensors, etc.) the OEM panamera turbo has thousands of different map variations for different conditions, our software has over a 100 + maps that complement those variations. We found that piggy back units only allowed us to use 10% of our maps.

So simply put there is very little control with the piggy back units. The end result was that the cars suffered from a host of problems like rough idle, check engine lights, etc. FVD Germany felt that the piggy back units did not meet our criteria. We felt that our customers deserved more, so we continued working on a flashable solution that was not a compromise. After a years worth of effort we have the first flashable software on the market which is pure unadulterated panamera turbo software perfection!
